It uses the interaction between light and marine actives to create adaptive formulas — cosmetics that respond to skin’s changing condition rather than applying a single, fixed solution regardless of context. Dr. Fabbri calls this la cosmetica pensante — thinking cosmetics.
Most cosmetic formulas deliver the same action every time, regardless of what skin actually needs in that moment. Skin’s condition genuinely changes — with sun exposure, temperature, hydration level, stress — and a fixed-action formula can’t account for that. Photosoma’s light-responsive mechanism is built to behave differently, adjusting to skin’s actual condition rather than treating every application identically.
The core principle is that certain marine actives can be triggered or modulated by light exposure — meaning the same product can behave differently depending on the conditions it’s applied in, rather than delivering a static, unchanging action. This is a meaningfully different design philosophy from most cosmetic formulation, which is built around a single, predictable action regardless of context.
